Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor :: Subaru Impreza RB5 Owners Club
OPERATION
Located on the air cleaner housing the IAT sensor varies resistance as air temperature changes
TESTING
1. Switch the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the IAT sensor harness.
3. Measure the resistance across the IAT sensor terminals.
4. At 68°F (20°C), the resistance should be 2-3 kilo-ohms.
5. At 176°F (80°C), the resistance should be 0.27-0.37 kilo-ohms.
6. Replace the IAT sensor if the resistance readings are out of range.
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cables
2. Unfasten the IAT sensor harness
3. Using a suitable wrench loosen and remove the sensor from the side of the air cleaner housing.
TO INSTALL
4. Apply a layer of Teflon tape around the threads of the sensor.
5. Install the sensor, and tighten snugly.
6. Connect the sensor harness.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
